Privacy Policy

We are highly focused on being as transparent as possible, and for us at Learnitive that means having a privacy policy that is straightforward and easy to understand.

The website is hosted by OVH. Server-side data used by Learnitive is stored on dedicated OVH infrastructure in the Sydney region.

Your data

Learnitive is designed to be local first.

Your projects, notes, research materials, documents, generated content, uploaded files, local AI data, API keys, workspace data, and other project content are not automatically uploaded to Learnitive's account servers unless you explicitly use a feature that requires server-side processing or storage.

Where supported, Learnitive applications store project and workspace data locally in your browser or through browser-supported filesystem access. This helps keep your working data under your control.

Some Learnitive features may require authenticated server access. When you explicitly use one of these features, only the information required to provide that feature is transmitted to the server.

Your Learnitive account may store information required to operate the service, including your email address, profile information, account preferences, licence or subscription entitlements, support information, and limited operational data.

Learnitive does not automatically maintain copies of your local projects simply because you are signed in to your account.

If you choose to use a third-party AI provider through a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) feature, requests sent to that provider are subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms. Learnitive does not need to permanently store your AI provider credentials on its servers where the feature is designed to operate locally.

We never sell your personal data.

We do not share your personal data with other companies, communities, or individuals except where it is necessary to provide a service you explicitly use, comply with applicable law, process payments or licensing, operate essential infrastructure, or where you have otherwise authorised us to do so.

Where we collect analytics, we aim to keep that information anonymous or aggregated wherever practical. We do not need to know every action taken by an identifiable individual in order to improve Learnitive.

We may use anonymized or aggregated usage information to improve Learnitive. This may include information such as page views, feature usage, application errors, performance information, and similar operational data that helps us identify and resolve problems.

We collect the minimum amount of personal data reasonably required to provide Learnitive, maintain accounts and entitlements, support users, protect the service, and improve the product.

Nothing more than we reasonably need.

You have the right to request deletion of the personal data associated with your Learnitive account, regardless of where you live. If you would like your account data deleted, please contact us by email and we will process your request as soon as reasonably possible.

Note: deleting your account may also remove associated licences, purchases, subscriptions, account entitlements, cloud-stored content, and access to premium features associated with that account.

Data stored only on your own device or browser may need to be deleted locally by you because Learnitive may never have received or stored that data.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar browser technologies where they are required to operate Learnitive, maintain sessions, remember preferences, improve security, and provide a better user experience.

We do not intentionally set cookies that serve no reasonable purpose.

Privacy is important to us, and we aim to keep the number of cookies and tracking technologies used by Learnitive to a minimum.

Some third-party services used by Learnitive may set their own cookies or similar technologies. Where analytics services are used, we aim to configure them to minimise the collection of personally identifiable information.

An advanced web application like Learnitive may require cookies, local storage, browser databases, cache storage, filesystem permissions, or similar browser capabilities in order to function correctly.

These technologies may also be used to support Learnitive's local-first architecture by keeping application and project data on your device rather than transferring it to our servers.

Intellectual property

The content you create, write, upload, import, or otherwise add to Learnitive remains yours.

This may include research, notes, documents, LaTeX projects, images, datasets, diagrams, whiteboards, generated files, uploaded resources, and other content you create or manage using Learnitive.

Using Learnitive does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate rights or permission to use any content you upload, import, process, or distribute through Learnitive.

So what belongs to Learnitive?

This includes, but is not limited to, the Learnitive name and branding, website and application design, platform source code, software, documentation, original graphics, and content created by us unless otherwise stated.

Third-party software, libraries, models, trademarks, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate licences.

AI and third-party services

Some Learnitive features can interact with artificial intelligence services.

Where Learnitive supports local AI, compatible models may operate directly on your device without sending your project content to Learnitive's servers.

Where you choose to connect an external AI provider using your own API key, information you submit to that provider may be transmitted directly to that provider in order to generate a response.

Third-party AI providers process information according to their own privacy policies, data retention practices, and terms of service.

You should avoid submitting sensitive or confidential information to a third-party AI provider unless you are comfortable with that provider's policies.

Learnitive may also integrate with third-party services for purposes such as payments, licensing, authentication, infrastructure, error monitoring, or other features. Information is shared with those services only where reasonably required to provide the relevant functionality.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Learnitive accounts, infrastructure, and server-side data.

We maintain our software and dependencies and aim to apply relevant security updates when they become available.

We also design Learnitive around the principle of minimising unnecessary server-side data collection. Keeping appropriate project data locally can reduce the amount of personal information that needs to be transmitted to or stored on our infrastructure.

However, no website, application, computer system, or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are also responsible for protecting your account credentials, devices, API keys, local files, and any third-party accounts connected to Learnitive.

Policies concerning children

Learnitive is not directed toward children under the age of 18.

We do not knowingly market, advertise, or otherwise target Learnitive to children.

If you believe that a person under the age of 18 has created an account or provided personal information to Learnitive, please contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

Privacy modifications

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Learnitive changes, new features are introduced, legal requirements change, or our data practices evolve.

When we change our privacy practices, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

If we make material changes that significantly affect how we handle your personal data, we may also notify registered users by email or through Learnitive.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically so that you understand how Learnitive handles your information.

Privacy acceptance

By accessing or using Learnitive, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

Your use of Learnitive is also subject to any applicable Terms of Service and other policies made available through the service.
